The Ashton Warner Academy offers a full time, 32 week course which incorporates the NZ National Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Care (level 3).
For those who have completed sixth form
or are aged 20 or over, the Academy also offers the New Zealand
Certificate in Nanny Education (Level 5). Completing this higher-level course takes up to one year off the time taken if you would like to eventually qualify as a Teacher (ECE).
Our courses balance theory and practical work, which is done in Early Childhood Centers and work placements with families.
The Ashton Warner courses are a passport to many jobs with children, for example you can work
in NZ or Overseas as a professional nanny and live-in, have sole charge, do short-term work for agencies or work with children who have special needs. You can also
start work as an educator in an Early Childhood Centre and continue to study towards a Diploma in Teaching.
The Academy can introduce you to friendly local families that provide boarding for out-of-town and overseas students.
Further Educational Options
Graduates
with the New Zealand Certificate in Nanny
Education (L5) can gain up to a year off the time
taken to qualify as an Early Childhood
Teacher. Graduates with the Ashton
Warner Certificate in Nanny Education can go on to enter a range of other courses throughout New
Zealand because this qualification incorporates the National Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Care (L3)
and may be considered equivalent to 6th form
certificate.
