The Ashton Warner Academy offers a full time, 32 week course which incorporates the NZ National Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Care (level
3), and qualifies you to work as a nanny in New
Zealand and overseas.
For those who have completed sixth form
or are aged 20 or over, the Academy also offers the New Zealand
Certificate in Nanny Education (Level 5). As
well as qualifying you to work as a professional nanny
in NZ and overseas this gives
you credit of a year off the Diploma of
Teaching (ECE) course at the NZ College of Early Childhood,
and almost a full year off the Bachelor of Education
(EC Teaching) programme at MIT (located in Manukau and
Central Auckland). It makes it a great
choice if you’re planning to qualify as an early childhood
teacher later on!
Our courses balance theory and practical work, which is done in Early Childhood Centers and work placements with families.
The Ashton Warner courses are a passport to many jobs with children, for example you can work
in NZ or Overseas as a professional nanny and live-in, have sole charge, do short-term work for agencies or work with children who have special needs. You can also
start work as an educator in an Early Childhood Centre and continue
your studies towards a teaching diploma or
degree.
In 2009 more than 80% of our graduates got
employment with children (or went on to early
childhood degree/diploma studies)
The Academy can introduce you to friendly local families that provide boarding for out-of-town and overseas students.
