Student Loans and Allowances

Our students are eligible to apply for student loans and allowances through Studylink. Studylink administers Student Allowances and Student Loans as well as other forms of financial assistance for students.  

The Studylink website provides tools, calculators and information to help students who are thinking about study to plan their finances and only borrow what they need.  Use Studylink’s What You Can Get eligibility test or click on the headings below to find out what you may be eligible for.  

Student Allowance The Student Allowance is a weekly payment to help full-time students with living expenses. It does not have to be paid back.

Student Loan The Student Loan can pay for compulsory fees, course-related costs & living costs. You have to pay a Student Loan back.

Extra help with costs There are a number of other ways StudyLink can help with costs while you study.

Boarding Accommodation:
The Academy will introduce you to families who offer friendly home-stay accommodation. Some have offered boarding to nanny students for many years. 

IT & Library:
Four computers are available for students use + WiFi broadband internet.  A library of specialist books, DVDs and CDs is available to students and staff

Job Placement & Counselling:
The principal  helps students find employment and will advise on future educational options. She is an experienced counseller and in relation to personal issues, can also refer students for specialist help. 

Cultural Advisor:
The Academy has a cultural advisor to help us meet the needs of Maori students who can also provide support and help. We welcome Pacifika students and those from all cultures . We will provide all the help you need to feel comfortable..

Recreation:
The Hibiscus Coast Leisure Centre is nearby. It offers an indoor pool, badminton, aerobics, aqua aerobics and netball at student rates. The area has many beautiful beaches and is home to the Shakespear Regional Park with great tramping and awesome scenery. The bright lights of Auckland are 30 minutes drive away.

End of Course Function:
At the end of the course a function will be held for family and friends. The cost of the function for students is included in your course fees. Dress is semi-formal.
